The Story Behind the Work
The experience behind Aussie Active Communities has been built through a combination of consultancy projects, professional roles and volunteer leadership across education, sport and community sectors.
While projects have varied, the focus has remained consistent: creating initiatives that are practical, inclusive and grounded in real-world settings.
One example is the 100km Club, originally developed in a school setting to support children to build confidence, persistence and positive movement habits through achievable distance goals.
The principles behind this work remain consistent:
✔ Simplicity
✔ Inclusion
✔ Participation
✔ Community ownership
✔ Sustainable impact
These values continue to shape the way Aussie Active Communities works alongside education, sport and community organisations.

Why This Matters
Many organisations operate at the intersection of schools, sport and community.
Experience across all three sectors provides a broader perspective on participation, partnerships and community engagement, helping bring together ideas, approaches and connections that might not otherwise occur.
A Practical, Real-World Approach
The work is grounded in real-world settings, where time, capacity and competing priorities are always part of the picture.
That means the focus is always on:
✔ Practical strategies that can be be implemented
✔ Reducing workload for staff and volunteers
✔ Building sustainable approaches that last
✔ Supporting existing systems rather than adding complexity
Because meaningful impact only works when it works in the real world.
